DELUXE BLOND
We start off our entire 2024 playlist with the track “Kiss City” from the New York born / Los Angeles-based Alt/Indie Rock artist Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, better known as Blondshell. We love it when we come across new music and new sounds, out of the blue, that blow us away and takes us into a deep dive into their music that leave us asking the question, “Why didn’t we hear of this artist sooner?” As we had our eyes open in late 2023, it’s time to open you ear and ears to the music of Los Angeles-based indie-pop artist, Emei. Bringing back the old soulful, doo-wop style of Rock-N-Roll music from the 50’s and 60’s to the 2020’s, is the Santa Ana, CA. based band, The McCharmlys. With the name coming from an obscure reference from an old interview from The Beatles, The McChamlys, led by singer and songwriter Angie Monroy, made their EYP debut last year with their song “Awful Thing” from the debut self-titled album, “The McCharmlys”.

DANISH ROCK FOREVER
In 2024, Danish metal-hard rock band Forever Still, kicked off the year by releasing their 3rd full-length album “The Line”. They have been featured on EYP since 2016 with their track “Break The Glass”. WAKING UP THE NIGHT OWLS
This year, we introduced our top category in our little musical world of the EYP Staple Artists & Band. The band that is the ultimate “EYP Staple Band” is The Dollyrots. Their punk rock music, and specifically, their song “Get Weird” was the first track that started our very first playlist in 2015. Since then, they have appeared 16 other times throughout the years in our various forms (playlists and podcasts) of EYP. The Dollyrots are a Los Angeles and Florida-based punk band composed of married couple, Kelly Odgen and Luis Cabezas. Every though we have been featuring their music since 2015, they have been making music since 2004. Since then, they have released a ton of single and 12 full-length albums, with the most recent “Night Owls” released in 2023.

Not an EYP Staple Band just yet, the Brighton-based rock band Yonaka is on their way of becoming one by releasing great rock tracks like their latest, “Predator”. This song gives us a glimpse of what if Blondie may have sounded like as a harder edge rock band and spitting out rap lyrics like singer Theresa Jarvis is doing in this song. This is definitely one for you Rock Playlist. In 2024, Yonaka will be on tour all over the world on their “Riot” tour with Cassyette.

Anthony Ramirez and Tania Costello make up the synth-pop band Glass Spells.
