Introduced in late 2024, the “Submitted For Your Approval” playlist returns to Expand Your Playlist with its fourth edition. Unlike other playlists, this one features musicians from a variety of genres, primarily independent and emerging artists. Additionally, all the music featured has been submitted to us personally, either through our social media pages or via our Music Submission Page on the website.

While other of our playlists offer variety, this playlist is inclusive with various genres and styles, making it a highly eclectic playlist, providing emerging musicians with an opportunity to be featured.

As we said on the first playlist of 2025, we would like to thank you so much for your constant support if you are a returning listener and reader of our content. The support we have gotten in 2024 means a ton, giving this platform life and meaning as we enter a new year. For 2025, we have tweaked and updated a few things here and there, but our mission will be the same.

If you are new to Expand Your  Playlist, welcome! Our mission is to help you the music fan and listener to open your eyes and ears to music that is not widely played and featured on mainstream media, introducing you to musicians from various genres and walks of life that may not get the airplay and attention they deserve. With all types of music featured on EYP, there is always room for classically-style piano instrumental music like “Hidden” by Nicola Elias Rigato. We were honored to have received this song as a music submission as it gave a smooth welcoming open our playlist. “Hidden” is from his 2024 album “A Sun Elsewhere”.

TURNING ADULT
Debuting again on EYP is Josh Lovelace with his song “I Stopped Drinking Yesterday.“ We featured his song last year on the November 2024 playlist. We were honored that we received this track as a musical submission, and we love the sing somuch, we added it to this playlist series as well.

Josh Lovelace is a versatile singer, songwriter, and musician from Knoxville, Tennessee. He’s well-known as the keyboardist for the band Needtobreathe, with whom he’s been playing since 2011. In 2017, he branched out as a solo artist with the children’s album “Young Folk,” which showcases his passion for children’s music

In 2024, Lovelace released his first non-children’s solo record, “Shelters.” This album is deeply personal and explores themes of self-doubt, hope, and finding one’s place in the world.

INTRODUCING: RETROSAINT

Retrosaint is an indie pop project led by David Ross, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. The project was formed in 2020, and Ross is known for his diverse musical influences, including alt rock and Americana.

Ross, who is a classically trained pianist, released his first self-titled album in 2022. His latest single, “False Start,” released in August 2024, is an homage to his home base of Nashville and features a blend of indie pop and Americana elements. We welcome Retrosaint to Expand Your Playlist!

THE EMERGENCE OF PEARL DIVER
Hailing from the emerging music scene in Bakersfield, California, is the soulful, dreamy, and melodic sounds of Pearl Diver. Evoking the deep dreamy pop vocals and the soulful, melodic tones reminiscent of Lana Del Rey and Patti Smith, we welcomed Pearl Diver to Expand Your Playlist with “Love Me”, off the EP “Love Me” on our January 2025 playlist. We welcome her back as she appears on SFYA #4 with her song “Part-Time Lover”, off her album “Green Lights Forever”. Expect more music from Pearl Diver in future playlists.

Upon first listening to “Golden Memory Eternal”  by Exephorum, it gave me Chemical Brothers vibes. With the classix 90s beats and rhythms. We are excited to hear more of Exephorum’s brand of electronic music in future playlists.

AUSTRALIAN INDIE ROCK
We welcome to Expand Your Playlist the indie rock sounds from the Sydney-Eora, Australia band Stubai. Submitted and selected for this playlist is their song “Do You Miss Me” from their 2024 EP “Voyager.”

Direct from Seattle, Washington is the indie / emo / pop punk music of Four Story Fall. They submitted for our approval the single “Grey Hyundai”. They got our approval. Do they have yours?

SPOTLIGHT ON WILDIE
From their fifth album released in 2023, “Moonsharks,” it is the indie folk pop title track “Moonsharks” by the Swedish cinematic folk rock band, Wildie. Expect more music from Wildie in future playlists as we learn and discover more about the band and their music.

RETURNING DIRTY
Returning to Submitted For Your Approval from their appearance on the very first Submitted For Your Approval playlist with their song “Sunday High” is Dirty Nancy with their song “Wake Up” off their 2023 self-titled album. Dirty Nancy is an electronic music duo from Athens, Greece.

EXCEEDING THE TARGET
Also returning to Submitted For Your Approval is the independent Southern Californian producer and musician Mudder Leigh blending electronic sounds with strong indie rock vibes with the track “Stay On Target”.
