It’s a new year and a new start with a re-designed logo and an updated format, but we are still bringing you the same great quality of music, if not better, that we recommend to you for discovering new music, new sounds and new musicians. In this first EYP playlist of 2026, we bring you “No Paper. No Scissors. Rock Playlist! – Playlist #36.” This rock playlist not only kicks off our 2026 but also marks the start of the fourth volume in this long-running series, one of the original playlists we’ve featured since year one.

The Velveteers are a garage‑rock power trio from Boulder, Colorado, known for their dual‑drummer setup, gritty sound, and collaborations with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. They’ve toured with major rock acts and released two full‑length albums, including their 2025 record “A Million Knives“. The band consists of Demi Demitro on vocals and guitar, Johnny Fig on Drums and Baby Pottersmith also on Drums.
Their track “Death Hex” is one of their earliest breakout songs, released in 2016 and still a fan favorite today. This song is our introduction to the band. Expect more from The Velveteers in future EYP playlists!

Yee Loi are a rising Liverpool punk/rock duo made up of teenage sisters Rose and Matilda Farrell, known for fast, Ramones‑inspired riffs and sharp, socially aware lyrics. Their 2023 single “Dad’s Money” is a punchy, defiant response to critics who dismissed them because of their age, gender, and background. This song is our introduction to Yee Loi. Expect for from them in future NPNS Playlists!

Ecca Vandal is a Sri Lankan–born, South African–raised, Australian musician known for her genre‑hybrid style that fuses Alternative rock, punk, electronic production, and Hip-Hop influences. Ecca Vandal’s 2025 single “MOLLY” is a high‑energy, genre‑blending rock track that showcases her signature mix of punk attitude, electronic edge, and explosive vocal delivery. The song premiered in November 2025 alongside a visually striking music video she co‑directed, which you can view below.

Sludge Mother is a Seattle‑based, female‑led rock artist known for feral grunge energy, sludgy riffs, and raw emotional intensity. Her 2025 single “I Don’t Want A Job” is a breakout track that blends grunge, punk, and modern angst. This is the third song we feature from Sludge Mother, including the songs “When The Earth Swalllows” and “No Temple”. Her 2025 single “KILLSWITCH” is a heavy, emotionally charged track, released on November 13, 2025. The song appears on major platforms including YouTube Music and Amazon Music. She debuted and has appeared a few times in EYP playlists in 2025 with her songs “Circling” and “Counting Daggers”.

It’s a powerful, emotionally charged track about resilience, heartbreak, and surviving emotional blows you’ve felt before. This is the ninth track we have featured from YONAKA over the years since 2020. The next will one will be their tenth, making them EYP STAPLE ARTISTS.

Girl Tones are a high‑energy rock duo made up of sisters Kenzie and Laila, known for gritty, chaotic garage‑rock and explosive live shows. They are a rising sister‑duo rock band whose 2025 single “Leave the City” is a high‑energy, scuzzy, road‑worn anthem produced by Brad Shultz of Cage the Elephant. The track dropped on December 12, 2025, and has been widely covered by music outlets for its raw garage‑rock punch and end‑of‑year momentum. Girl Tones debuted on EYP in 2025 with songs “Again” and “Got It”, both songs featured in the “The Listening Station” playlists #33 and #34 respectively.

COBURN is the dark‑alt, rock/metal/pop project of Ohio artist Erin Coburn, and her 2025 single “Super Ugly” is a raw, defiant empowerment track about embracing imperfection and rejecting polished expectations. The song is available on Spotify, YouTube Music, and her official site. This is her second appearance on an EYP “No Paper. No Scissors.” playlist as she debuted in 2023 with her song, “Blossoms”.
